I’d started attending the GRG meetings back in the mid-90’s, and picked up again maybe 5 years ago online with the email list. But I’m basically a filmmaker by profession. I had started speaking with Steve a while back about shooting a full documentary on the current (and future) state of biogerontology R&D. Something fairly technical, but with understandable explanations and graphics to make it accessible.
I haven’t seen The Immortalists (yet), but I wouldn’t focus on particular people as that doc seems to do, but rather on the actual science.
My idea is to use the doc to raise public awareness, at the least, and to help drive that awareness to donations to help fuel research.
I had sent an outline to Steve and tried to follow up and maybe get the ball rolling, but frankly with his illness, I didn’t push it. (I wish I had at least gotten him onto film for it, though!)
Anyway, I would like to potentially revisit this. I would need to work up an approach and outline, plus figure out who key people are to interview. Below I’ll paste in the initial rough list of specific topics I’ve come up with thus far.
Then there would be a lot of travel and shooting .. and graphics and editing. I’d likely use crowdfunding to help get it made.
If anyone would like to at least discuss being involved and making it happen, please let me know.
